St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester.

Swedish H-Windows Limited's involvement with this project included the design, manufacture and installation of all the external glazing package which included curtain walling and a conservatory.

Swedish H-Windows Limited developed a composite timber/aluminium curtain walling specifically for this project, this being a UK first. The system utilises laminated timber sections and can offer module sizes upto 4000mmm x 5000mm.

The requirement for this particular project was for the curtain walled areas to incorporate both opening windows and doors with spandrel panelled areas. By adapting an existing window system, Swedish H-Windows Limited were able to offer the client a top hung outward opening window with position brake facility, thereby allowing an open window to be held in position simply by turning the handle back to the closed position.

The benefit of this option is that once secured in position, the window is not effected by gusts of wind etc. thereby allowing staff members to continue normally with their duties. The same option is available with Swedish H-Windows Limited outward opening external doors.

Another requirement on this project was a conservatory within one of the many courtyards on this project. The vertical elements of the conservatory were manufactured using our standard composite timber/aluminium section with the glazed roof being designed and manufactured using Shüco aluminium sections. Swedish H-Windows Limited were responsible entirely for the design and installation of this element of the works.
